Retirement

2006 September - 2020 July

Meikka was happy in her house in Cheltenham Road, Cirencester. She enjoyed her garden and Nikki often had her over to her house. Over the years, Nikki often took her on an annual holiday: they went to a stately mansion hotel with spa, toured the Peak District, Devon, and visited Cornwall and the Eden Project. Meikka enjoyed reading and listening to Radio 4 and music. Nikki and Meikka often went to exhibitions and excursions in the area. A cream tea was always enjoyable.

As the years passed, she saw her grandchildren growing up and Jessica get married in 2010 to Cobus and they later had a lovely boy, Lewis in May 2017 - on the same day as his grandad, Nigel. In 2014, Meikka suffered a TIA and although she recovered, she started down the road to vascular dementia, eventually needing more and more help at home. So by 2017 she finally moved into Wild Acres Care Home in Finchampstead, where she was well-looked after until her death.

She will be remembered as a singular, probably pioneering and stubborn/determined woman, who achieved a lot in her lifetime and will be well-remembered by all who knew her.
